I know i will too and as soon as you finish painting my pieces and send a copy to me , then i too can demo it in california. Pictures are important as well.

When comparing it on those terms thats correct, but as a general feature the SS units were invaribly larger ( 2 brigades i think) got the first replacements, best weapons, had their own supply systems, had fearless leaders and were allways put to the test as some spearhead to whatever new offensive a field Marshall can dream up. At the wars end about 700,000 were about were in waffen ss units (about 25%) of the army. On the average they were the "crack units" and could make a good optional rule as a new unit, but again since i dont know the unit values i cant guess at the cost or ratings.
I might also add that there were more SS units than panzer grenadiers... LOL... so if you could include some optional new units what do you think these SS panzers should look like on the stat sheet?

Game Design / d12 conversion
« on: August 09, 2005, 05:09:30 PM »
Have you folks considered a d12 conversion? You can achieve greater piece attributes (range is not 12 events) while the pieces themselves have greater character. Also a third consideration is it will allow new units. Example: a SS Panzer unit at a d6 system, would presumably attack at 5 (since heavy armor is presumably at 4/4). On a d12 the SS unit could be assigned values of 10/9, while Heavy could be at 8/7--- meaning your gaining the fractions of true values you would  otherwise have been lost on a d6 system.
Im not advocating any change, just wondering if during the design stage the point was raised and if so why  did you decline to go in that direction?

God your killing me... I allready had plans for that weekend, plus i like to plan out things a bit. My friends Jeff Stein and John libby will greet you in Indy, while they are running World War 2: the game. I have forwarded your site to them and they love it. Ill study that chart better, but you know those pics are too dam small!!!  I like the fact you got light med and heavy armor, but do the Germans have any SS units? if so what are their values?

When the game is demomstrated at its next convention.. can you folks take a bunch of pictures of the pieces set up at different points of the game. That way we can follow how the game progressed. Also the website pics of the game should be able to be supersized. That will help sell the game best i think.

I think you should install manpower limits on infantry class units that are bought, which will in game terms force the builds of other unit types. Plus buying nice pieces adds to the game because these units have better mobility in many cases, but greater differentiation of purpose. Historically its better because it demonstrates the ability of some nations to call up manpower reserves and places limitations that as the commander of the nation you have to face. Nothing is worse than huge stacks of "static" infantry waiting for decent offensive units to push into your enemys borders.
The manpower reserves can fluctuate based on the year and perhaps to lessor extent how well you are doing in the game. Example: Germany can build Volkstrum units at any time after an allied nations forces are adjacent to the Reich, but at a certain limit... while if germany is doing well even after 1944 then they have no need for this or the limits can change.

Since i dont as of yet own the game ( i am still salavating for the moment i will actually recieve the game) It might be a good idea to post the unit values and the costs for discussion.

On another topic for nice aesthetics for this game i think using those dice from flames of war are perfect! They got logos of each nation instead of a one and come in the perfect colors for this game. Im stocking up on them , so when this game is ready to sell to me ill have the dice ready... expect to pay about 8.50 for a pack of them. The other route for cool dice is strafing gun games.com but they are in the process of rebuilding up their online business. For the exact chips in multiple colors you can buy a bag of 100 red, blue, green, gold, black and other colors from gamblers wherehouse.com located in Vegas. I bought a load of bags of them when i went to the WSOP a few weeks back.

Also you might want to create a "sticky" on the forum or on the site so its clear what you get. BTW love those "fortification" or "fort" units. We also need more pictures of the eastern portion of the map and perhaps close up shots of the awesome pieces. They are a selling point as much as the map. Aesthetics are everything!!!

Ok i definatly am going to buy the game with the pieces... But this is something that i will play for a lifetime... so i guess id like the cool box with the pictures. Can i buy the game (ok preorder) and you guys can send me the box when its ready? Otherwise ill PM you for the actual order. I want to send you the rules for some of my games (PDF) format so you can see how we do it on the other coast--- we sure do have the same technique and passion about how games should be done. thanks again      Anthony

General Discussion / Q&A - buying the game, contents, availability
« on: July 17, 2005, 02:43:31 PM »
I plan on ordering this game with all the pieces.. So what is the breakdown on what you get i know we get 1,100 pieces? but how many ships, armor, infantry. Lastly why are the bases of the infantry different colors? does it designate the type of Infantry?  or how is that handled. I see you use old glory infantry pieces mounted on 1/2 x 1/2 inch bases. Those planes are from Der kreigspeilers?  (out of business) or tumbling dice? ??? ???
