Port Attack
« on: August 15, 2015, 12:07:01 PM »
As more as i think of it, wouldn't it be better to allow only 1 Round of Port bombing by planes & subs to bring it in line with "airbase attack ground bombing" and "strategic attacks"?

It is only one round - just like attacking convoys...
Is that not clear in rules?

Mark...

Subs are only one round of bombing, naval units can leave the harbor and retreat in the sea zone, after the first round, thus ending the port bombing. It's on 13.16.1 and 13.16.2 in the rulebook

I just ask why is it only allowed to bomb a plane on a airbase for 1 round and ships in naval port for 4 rounds..

Yeah Georgemak1 thanks :-) but i know this rule.

I just think it should be technically also only 1 round or did the ships in pearl harbor flee out of the port ?  I don't think tho...

Darkman this is something that only Mark can answer for you, but you do get a choice to move your ships out of the harbor after one round of bombing, maybe that has something to do with it.

Yeah but you can flee out of the port before the battle occurs anyways and take the snapfire attack..

I would also suggest to allow AA units in Territory help in Port attacks as they do in airbase attacks

I misunderstood the question. I thought you were referring to strategic attacks against ports. If an air units reaches a fleet before it moves - it will get the port bonus on the first round as the ships leave port. Yes - adjacent AA in the territory of the port adds to the AA defense.

Ships can opt to stay in port for the full 4 rounds but that's pretty risky.

Yeah but i think it should be better only 1 Round for Harbor attacks. Makes no sense that it's 4 rounds while the other Special attacks are 1 Round only.. there won't be a second round anyways

I could see changing this to one round to be like airbase attacks and strategic attacks if folks think that is what makes most sense.  It my allow fleets to have more longevity with only one round of port bombing.

It may make Pearl Harbor fell a bit better too.  If the Japanese have to retreat their planes after one round of bombing, the US would still control the sea zone.  As the rules work now, it is the Americans that have to retreat, leaving the Japanese in control of the sea zone (and making Hawaii out of Supply for the Spring turn) which always kind of bugged me. . .

Jep you see it right. It fixes The Pearl Harbor issue , and in my eyes 1 round of Harbor attacks feels better .. It still can do huge dmg to fleets. If ever introducing Grand or Air generals These guys can give Bonuses To multiple attacks Rounds and so on  ::)
