Yes - the update (second edition ) is a much better game and Consim (in my opinion) than the original game. The map is a big improvement as well. The only downside is that the game takes about 2x as long to play as the original game (1939 scenario is about 40-60 hours to play until 1945) - but it is a blast if you can leave it set up somewhere or play it over the course of 3 days.
