Is it ever possible to Air Transport a Unit more than three spaces away?

Can you move three spaces out without dropping the unit, and then three more spaces?

yes - but the planes would have to land there. . .so you could move 6 spaces, but only friendly to friendly.  You could only paradrop into an enemy space 3 spaces away, because you have to go back and land in a friendly territory.
