Hey John :-)

A too complicated rule in a very complex game ?  :o

Hehe you joking with me ;-))

I auctally try to block the redeployment without any risks in the non-combat movment.

A simpler rule would fix it too.
"like you can't unload troops from a sea zone with an enemy control marker on it "

After Action Reports / Playtesting / 1941 Europe Playtest on new Map
« on: February 22, 2016, 05:09:39 AM »
Hey guys,

we did a 5-group playtest on the newest map. Sadly we only had a chance to play 4 full turns yet and still decide if we will finish the game or the germans will surrender.
The Axis are down to 26 VP and africa is lost, finnland was overrun by soviets and finnland only oslo is left (Most terrtories are soviet, just 1 is british)

Vichy will be attacked either next turn or the turn after. Maybe it was a mistake of the germans to attack russia in Spring 1941.
Axis will loose if they have less than 24 VP in Spring 1942 (Alternate VP Table).
They are about to loose Oslo, Kirkuk, Algiers & Tunis in the next 2 turns and the eastern front actually doesn't that power to push the soviets back. But we will see.

We had the following house rules.

- Alternate VP Table. (More Historical correct in the end game)
I made it a very little harder for the allies to win early. So the game continues. Especially in 1944-45. Axis Table is untouched.
It just bugs me axis loose if they have the territores they had in reality while the game should continue. They loose if they have less than historical.

- Finnland changes i proposed. (Germany can freely operate in Finnland). Germany didn't invest in troops in Finnland so there was a overrun.
- Germany is able to redeploy 1 unit per turn between Germany - Norway - Finnland through the swedish railways.
- The 4 new leaders are added  Hardegen, Heinrici , Chuikov & Guzzoni. (Hardegen died early on a raid, the others are not yet in game because we are now in 1942
- Bastico stays in the game and is later replaced by Guzzoni
- Port Kirkenes is added as a 5 Port in Finmark (Norway)
- Removed the Italian Convoy Zone that is already out of the game to avoid confusion

I made some pictures but not that many. I will upload some of them soon. I was too busy with explaning the game and the rules.

I think a new Problem occurs. Since now ships are allowed To move through enemy controlled sea zones in The final movement, the italian Navy has no Option to stop the allies sending reinforcements (Transports with troops ) through the Gibraltar straight. As a british You just always wait in Gibraltar until final movement and move 8 spaces to the North africa territories.

I still would like to see some Intercept rules to Block this.

Solution:
So every ship / plane that moved tactical and did not attack / snapshot Is in an Intercept Mode and can stay in the Sea zone.
Planes have the option to stay in the sea zone and skip the landing phase ( after mech phase).

The initiative Winner and then the initative Loser moves his ships and planes back at the end of the final movement phase. ( after all other ships that attacked or moved strategically)
Planes in "Intercept Mode" Land now but have no further movement. (No 2x range)

Ships & Planes in Intercept Mode have a chance to attack ships moving through their sea zone (or maybe also adjacent)  in final movement can roll on a new intercept table and then trigger a battle.

What do you think ?

Ready for an 4th U-Boot Ace?

Reinhard Hardegen
Reinhard Hardegen  is a German U-boat commander who sank 22 ships, amounting to 115,656 gross register tons (GRT) sunk, making him the 24th most successful commander in World War II.

He is one of the most known & sucessful german U-Boat commanders.

I would say he is placed in 1939 scenario once 4th uboat is build (as it is in production at start)  in 1941 he goes to the 4th Uboat in Setup.

I'm doing some german Player aids

While doing this i still find some  uncovered  rules:

1. Do Merchant Raiders Act like uboot when moving through asw straights ( Gibraltar , denmark)?
1.1 and Is there a Difference when they Switch Flags (neutral, not neutral ) For this ?

2. Can the italian Surface ships move through Gibraltar or Suez while beeing neutral ?
- the rules of the straights don't Cover a neutral italy. But the 1941 setup of italy has an increased infantry reinforcement so somehow it has to be possible.

Why not changing either that up to 4 submarines can stay To a merchant Raider and 4 paratroopers can support a battle Or better only up to 3 submarines can do an Fleet asw (like paratroopers ) would make more sense to have a similar fixed number For paratroopers , submarines , Merchant Raider ?

Rules Questions & Clarifications / Barbarossa Rules
« on: February 02, 2016, 10:46:49 AM »
Hi guys,

i actually making some german Player aids.

One Thing i have issues is is the ruling about Barbarossa & 1st Winter Rules

Barbarossa
The Soviet Chart is saying +1 to Attack for Axis Ground & Air Units and -1 for Russian. while the Rulebook goes into detail and tells a whole different thing. Especially to Air Units modifiers.

Quote
27.7.10 Barbarossa
If the Germans attack the Soviet Union before the Soviet Union declares war, the Germans receive a combat modifier for the first round of all land, naval and air combats.  For the first round only all German units have a +1 combat modifier and all Soviet units receive a -1 modifier.  Attacking German air units would apply a -1 modifier to their air-to-air attacks and defending Soviet fighters would apply a +1 modifier to their air-to air rolls.  This is a one combat round modifier only to German attacks (not Axis minor Allies or Italians) and all Soviet defensive values (regardless of attacker nationality).

Winter Rules
- Which territories are actually affected. Rules say. 1939 russian borders.
Autumn 1939 or Winter 1939? Does it include Viiborg, Riga , Eastern Poland and so on) or not ?
