General Discussion / Re: Revisiting the game after a longer break
« on: October 11, 2017, 07:45:00 AM »
Very cool guys   8) Looking forward to give it a try.

By the way i like the changes to the Transport Planes but how about giving Transport Planes also a Supply over Air Option to maintain a Unit‘s supply?

I also seen you removed the supply Tankers? What was the Reason?

« on: October 29, 2016, 09:06:01 PM »
Hello guys,

let's figure out or ask Mark :-)

What's actually new in the 2016 Rulebook (Dropbox)

What i found is

- ZoC: Naval over Air
- Modified V1 / V2 rules
- Modified Rules for rerolls for Russia & Britain
- No more replenishment ships?
- Only Paratrooper & Mountain Inf can use Transport planes?

Anything else new?

We finished the game yesterday. Everyone had a lot fun.

The Germans went down from 25 to 23 VP at the end of Autumn 1942 and lost the game.
The Wehrmacht threw everything into hopeless battles and pushed Forward in russia to survive in spring & summer turns but on western front the allied Forces took Vichy France (all 3 VP) and ended the game. They had a bit luck because the sea battles against the italian + French Forces were pretty hard for some moments.

A lot fun :)

I will post Pictures in a few days

1. Can Stukas & Sturmoviks directly attack AA that participate in an Airbase / Port Attack?

2. If moving 2 spaces with an Transport + landing craft to unload troops in an enemy unoccupied space.
Can another transport move 4 spaces tactical to unload troops there in the same chit draw?
    (For example the 0' Chit)
Or better say do only the transports that deliver "frontline Units" have to move 2 spaces and the rest can move up to 4 spaces (for reserve) ?

Game Design / Re: German Leaders

I think we will add Heinrici - but maybe as a 4-1- 0/1  instead of 2 re-rolls.  Model and Kesselring I think are the top best known defensive generals of the war.

Don't know if the Germans need another ace - you think so?

Hello Mark,

well on all german sources i read Heinrici was the best german defensive specialist when it comes to kill / Death ratios.
I would try it with 2 rerolls and add Chuikov aswell to give it a try.
Axis offensives on the  Russian front should be harder for the axis Summer 1942+ anyways.
If our actual game will reach 1944+ i can see at least the effect on him. But i think the game will end sooner.  ::)

About Hardegen it's the same. Hardegen is well known, giving the germans another Sub ace in 1939 and 1941.
Actually i forgot Prien is dead in 1941 Scenario so it would be 4 Sub aces in 1939 and 3 Sub aces in 41.

Rules Questions & Clarifications / Re: Questions on newest Rulebook (2015)

1) When Vichy France falls, do the Allies have to move land units into the empty territories in order to land planes on it in the future?

2) When is the Option to decide to be "in Port" or "outside"? Do you have to activate the ships for it? or can you do it anytime after you draw a chit without spending the movement points for the ships?

After Action Reports / Playtesting / Re: 1941 Europe Playtest on new Map

I like your VP table better than the current one. . I guess I have come around after playing a couple close end games in the last year.  Perhaps the only change I might make is changing the Allied Winter 1944 victory to 8 or less - but other than that keep it the way you have it.

Mark

Nice that you like my VP-Table. If you look on the historical Facts in Winter 1944 (Date November 26 - March 5)
The Axis only held Germany + Oslo. No Warsaw, no Budapest.  (Thats 6 in total)
So from that aspect i sometimes fight with my own that it should be 5 or less in Winter 1944 for the Allied.
If the Allied number is  8 (7 or less to win) you can say if Germany still has it's Homeland + oslo + Budapest  (7) and still loose the game earlier than it happend.

Increasing the number even more i think takes away the fight over Germany in that very last turns. You only need to attack Germany if you feel that you will loose in summer 1945 because Germany Helds 5 victory Points.

I know it is very hard to simulate the total collapse of the Germans from autumn 44 to spring 45.

I would like to have a whole new discussion about it one day :-)

Ok here is the alternate VP Table.

On the Eastern front i have to look at it myself too. I think in Spring 1941 the Germans did not have enough power to destroy the russian troops. The russian did a full retreat and there was no real combat until winter 1941. Then the russians did a full counteroffensive in normal and mech phase and surrounded and wiped out two german armies. The German Player was new to the game so he was going into the russian trap.

On the western front i played USA but it is not active in 1941 so i helped the english player by playing the British & Commonwealth troops in africa. He sent me a lot stuff so i strategically moved to Gibraltar and then 8 spaces again to cairo. The german Afrika Corps was able to beat tobruk very fast but pushed Forward too fast without any reinforcements. I attacked the Harbors with my fleets to cut off the supply of the axis Forces in africa and then i pushed them out of africa.

I will upload some pictures later
