We are looking to start a new game tonight.
We haven't played this in a year and a half (except for Eric and I at Origins) and it should be good to get back into this great game.
It should be fun to go over some of the game ideas again.

We played an ETO-only '39 game.
USSR variable entry, Italian Morale, Spain and Turkey Reluctance, Limited Capacity Airbases, and Paratroopers in the Mech phase.
We also decided to scrap the control of sea zones rules. We are think that it might make things more interesting in the Med that way.
Long story short- I bungled my way through the attack of France such that after five rounds I had finally taken Paris and then had the BEF wipe me out!
My only heavy equipment on the board at that point were two artillery pieces. Eric's French ravaged me and Dan's UK crushed my sub campaign.
I didn't help my cause to find out at the end of the night that Martin hadn't given the Germans any of the artillery that they are supposed to have at the beginning of the game.
That's what you get for being rusty!
We decided to give up this game and will start a new one come next Friday. Will probably go with a Eric's '41 scenario instead.
It is a real pleasure to come back to this game. It is such a good frame work to go forth from.

We used the USSR variable entry system and it seemed that there was too much that was dependent on the USSR only and not on Axis actions.
I will look at it some more, but at first blush from last night maybe the "place first regular fighter" and "place first medium tank" should only be one card drawn.

We will look to play a '41 game this week, but will most likely use Eric's '41 set up.

Started a new ETO game using Eric's adjusted set up.
Germany- me
USSR- Eric
Italy- Dan
WA- Martin
Dan is doing a nice job of shifting back and forth in answer to Martin's UK Med activities.
I had a nice first turn invading the USSR. Eric launched a counter attack against Kiev in the winter turn that should have devastated my forces there completely, but good dice on my part made it too painful for him to continue.
We are having a good time but won't get back at it until the 12 of December.
