I was in Normandy in August 2010 on vacation and took a couple days to check out the beaches. . .It is amazing how many bunkers and pill boxes are still left all over the place. . . Here are some pics of a battery between Omaha and Gold beaches -

Point du-hoc in the distance and the remnants of the British Mulberry Harbour in Arromanches

Ste. Mer-Eglise - As a monument to the US paratroopers that landed into the town on D-Day, they keep a dummy paratrooper hanging from the church - just as it happened. Also a picture of a wrecked Dakota in a field outside of Ste. Mer Eglise.

The U.S. cemetery on Omaha Beach, Omaha beach from the cemetery and another German Bunker just down the beach from Omaha - I think they used this one in filming the movie - The Longest Day - it was Colonel Pluskat's command bunker when he first saw the invasion armada.

Amazing!
One of these days I am going to drag my wife all over Europe to visit various WW2 sites. She has been to Europe, but I never have.

Okay John, here's the plan- we fly over together with a copy of the game and set it up right there in the hedgerows. What fun we would have!
We could even think about inviting Mark to join us. Maybe. ;)
