Mark,

You will have to give me your e-mail and phone,  starting next month they have charter flights that go over the pole to Germany for a reasonable rate. I just might take you up on your offer.

e-mail me at bigdaves{at}gci.net

Later,
David

Rules questions from first edition / Re: Poland Situation
« on: December 23, 2008, 09:49:52 PM »
I believe the situation that smckenzie is talking about the Germans did not Fly any planes in any of the attacks against Poland, so the fighter survived and had to land in eastern Poland.  Then Russia did not send any fighters into the attacks on eastern Poland so the Polish fighter flew greound support against both the Germans and the Russians before having no were to retreat and was eliminated.

So I think he was asking if there is anything that forces the Polish fighter to fly against the Russians or if they could just not fly.

Hey Mark,

I had seen the video under the post for Johncon, it looked pretty good you even had a Gencon pic or two if I remeber corretly.

Anyway the two guys that tried to sign up used the login names of Eugene and smckenzie.  Their e-mails are eugene.larmi@ascillc . com and mckenzie_sean@hotmail . com
so if you come across their requests it would be nice of you to approve them.

Have fun this weekend, wish I could b there sounds like fun.

Hey Mark,

I tried sending an e-mail to a hotmail e-mail address awhile ago not sure if you received it or not.  Anyway, finally got a bunch of people up here hooked on your game we have been playing it once a week for the last month or so (multiple games).  Work cut my access to your forum and I usually do not spend much time on the computer from home so have not been on the forum for awhile, other then work cracking down on web access things are going pretty good.   Vic got married in September, I flew down and the rest of the crew was there.  I think he was expecting you at Gencon to give you an invite, but it looks like you have been pretty busy traveling.  Anyway, I will get the guys logins and e-mails so you can get them on the forums.

Send me an e-mail I still have both of my addresses bigdaves and david.simmons if you need the rest just let me know.

David

I know a few people that have tried to get on the forum but have yet to have an admin approve there login.  Can some one take a look at it to see if you have any pending sign-ups?  If not I can ask them for their user names for someone to check on.

Thank you,
David

Rules questions from first edition / Re: Cutting the Soviet Union in half

For the AT question I would think since Tanks are reduced in value when attacking such a territory that it has the basic same result as increasing the value of AT guns.  Doing both would mess with the game balance I think.

Anyway just my Opinion.

Well Germany & Italy were a team effort with John and me making decisions on what to build.

I was planning to go with the u-boat war, and had seen a previous player a couple of years ago, go with early factory builds and thought that was a good idea also.  John wanted the early factories also so that worked out well that we had basically the same ideas on what we wanted to do.

After Barbarossa, John pretty much ran the western and med. fronts while I ran the east.  That coupled with making sure we did our builds during the Allied turn allowed us to keep up a good pace to our turns.

My theory on the East front was to push east as far and as fast as I could bypassing concentrated Russian defenses and trying to cut them out of supply.  It worked pretty well and the dice rolls helped, so we were able to put a lot of Russian infantry out of supply and keep pushing east, to reducing the Russian income as well as bombing what they did get.
Russian counterattacks would put a portion of the German army out of supply, but we were able to reopen our supply lines relatively easy compared to the Russians, since we had a lot more of an offense then the Russains did.

Stalin did want to increase the Soviet influence beyond its 1939 borders by making the non-aggression pact with Germany Stalin was able to attack Finland, annex the Baltic States and Bessarabia, and occupy the eastern half of Poland.  The Soviets also occupied parts of Iran prior to the German invasion.

Although the Winter War proved just how bad the Soviet Army was they were still able to “win” the war and get concessions from Finland and it did give its officers some badly needed field experience.

So I guess what I am saying is that Stalin was probably not going to sit back and watch forever, I am sure he would have either attacked some small country that he thought would be easy overrun while the Western Allies and Germany were pre-occupied or if it looked bad for Germany would have attacked like they did in the Far East against Japan once the war was all but won to get their share of the concessions from being on the winning side.
