Are these attacks instant like snapfires or in the combat Phase? (Naval combat)

Rules Questions & Clarifications / Naval Amphib Questions
« on: July 22, 2015, 01:41:37 AM »
Very interesting , i would have thought that beach landings (+deciding where to land) and para drops actually happen in the combat Phase (and such units still can decide if they land / para drop or stay on sea / air and abort the mission) so the battle is not triggerd in the chit drawing phases and the units that reinforce the territory are not automatically reserves?

Did i thought wrong?

Can Replenishment ships act like Mulberries? I mean can say supply other Units while beeing in a port?

For example the british has a 30 Units (ships & troops ) and a replenishment ship(loaded with 10 supply Points) in Gibraltar at the end of turn.

Can the replenishment ship supply the 10 extra Units in the Gibraltar port ?
And does the replenishment ships get resupplied at the beginning of the next turn?

Game Design / Axis Minor
« on: May 20, 2015, 04:18:00 AM »
Hello Mark!

i looked over the axis minor Chart & Setup and two things i would like to discuss.

Romania : Starting with 8 Units + Artillery
And can build 1 infantry units per turn  (2 divisions )

Looking at the real Situation for Romania
The Romanian Army had a total of 686,258 men under arms in the summer of 1941 and a total of 1,224,691 men in the summer of 1944.

1939 - 11 Divisions
1940 - 28 Divisions
1941 - 33 Divisions
1942 - 31 Divisions
1943 - 33 Divisions
1944 - 32 Divisions
1945 - 24 Divisions

I would suggest to increase the max build of romania infantry at least from 1 to 2 again.
Also increase the intial setup for Romania from 8 infantry to 11 infantry (+3)

Iraq Forces: (Pro British)

They had around 60,000 Units in 4 Divisions.

i would suggest to increase the setup starting force by 1 ..  so that one iraq unit is on each production value territory.

What you say?

Rules Questions & Clarifications / Port attack & snap fire
« on: May 04, 2015, 01:22:45 AM »
Hello guys,

just some further questions. :(

1) When i move a plane into a sea zone to attack an fleet in an fortified port.. then the enemy tries to move his fleet out of the port to avoid the port attack..
i would say then the plane can do an 1 turn snap fire attack on the fleet?
2) Does the plane also get the -2 DRM Bonus or not?

3) In an Port attack ships can retreat after 1 round of combat into the open sea. Does this also work for the Hawaii fleet (Pearl Harbor suprise attack) or does it have to stay 4 rounds (special rule)

Rules Questions & Clarifications / Naval- Non Combat Movement
« on: April 26, 2015, 11:39:29 AM »
Hey guys,

just for clarifying. Ships can only move strategically in the non combat movement Phase?

So Transports cannot move from Tripolis back to Sicily (pick up troops) and move back to north africa in the non combat phase to reinforce?

On the other side it is possible to reinforce france when having transports in the english channel? (D-day for example)

Question:

Can i retreat some units (for example Supporting planes) in a ground battle and fight with the rest after each round or do i have to retreat everything together in a ground battle?

Rules Questions & Clarifications / Declare war on Denmark / Norway
« on: April 14, 2015, 06:33:04 AM »
Hey maybe I've overseen this always but reading the rulebook again i noticed that.

Q1) What the fixed setup for norway since petsamo is now no longer a valid territory?

Q2: Is it right that i can't move through the danish straight with my invasion fleet to norway ( (lets say on spring 1940) because on any chit draw i declare war on norway, i also instantly declare war on denmark.

And the rule for the straight says that you can't move through if you don't own the straight beginning of the movement Phase or when denmark is neutral.
So in order to invade norway at all (except paratroopers) i HAVE to set up the invasion fleet into the Wilhelmshaven port? (Lets say on winter 39/40) or have to invade denmark on the turn earlier ?.

If this is true  i would suggest that the germans declare war when they "invade \ raid a country" as i don't think that ANY declaration of war arrived BEFORE the invasion on any country.. rather than having to declare war on a chit draw.

I also would like to talk about if we could increase the movement range of transports when doing amphibious invasions. Maybe from "2" to "3" as the invasion of norway was reaching Narvik with fleets (& transports) (since its all one territory , this is minor)

Rules Questions & Clarifications / Questions on newest Rulebook (2015)
« on: April 14, 2015, 12:57:09 AM »
Hello guys!

Have some Question on the newest rulebook.

1) 7.1.3 Hunter killer attacks in a sea zone always precedes ASW and submarine attacks.
Q: So that means if a German submarine moves into a convoy Zone and wants to attack the convoy (by moving 6 spaces) and on a later chit draw an British destroyer moves into that Zone (tactically). Then the destroyer has the option to attack with the hunter killer attack before the convoy is attacked? Does the submarine fire back?
And if the submarines survives.. does the same destroyer helps in ASW defense for the convoy attack?

2) 7.1.4 If moving tactically rather than strategic movement, players can move through enemy sea zones and 'drop' ships to engage the enemy ships in the sea zone.
Q: Can you do this also against submarines by moving in destroyers?

3) 18.0.7 Note: Only mechanized units may conduct a mechanized counter offensive – non-mechanized units may not mechanized counter-offensive.
Q: Means what? are the other units (non mechanized) in reserve ?  Are they targetable for the initial attacker in the first attack round or in the bonus attack round or in the following attack rounds?

4) Q: Not in the Rulebook: Do Transport planes stay in "air" with their infantry unit, until the landing phase if moving 3 spaces from friendly territory to another friend territory?

5) Q: Not in the Rulebook: Can planes participate \ attack in mechanized battles that particpated in airbase attacks /defense  & strategic attacks / defense in the normal phase?

6) 13.11.8. (see 10.9 above - up to 3 subs can participate in the attack).
Typo? I think it should now say up to 4 Subs ?

7) 17.7 Mixed naval combat and strategic attacks
Typo?  I think it should now say, resolve strategic attacks first rather than naval combat?

8)Q: Can Paratroopers & Mountain infantry also be converted into a fortification?
I ask this in respect on your Finnmark(Norwegian) rules.
I don't like to play with it because i don't like a special territory with limited access but it would be hard to attack.

9) Suggestion
Should submarines not get the equal or higher Bonus as airplanes when attacking ships in ports?
Maybe giving it a higher ASW risk if its too easy?

Game Design / Fixing the Greece Invasion
« on: October 21, 2014, 05:28:08 AM »
Hello guys

i would suggest an easy fix for the Greece Blitzkrieg Invasion April-June 1941 to finally fix this issue. (It somehow bugs me on every thought)

No rules change would be needed (No double mech for spring & autumn, no less provinces, no increased movement or special rules)

How it could look like.

Please take a look on it.

Game Design / Bf 109 vs Spitfire
« on: October 10, 2014, 02:54:03 AM »
Hey guys . Just asking..
Why is the spitfire superior than the Bf 109 in the game?
For the stats the german fighter was the better plane so you could also say they were equal.

What lead you guys to that decision?
Better Pilot Rotation? More aces ?

Game Design / Operation Rhine Exercise
« on: September 09, 2014, 07:15:22 AM »
Hey guys,

as i really like the improvement to naval mechanics,  i think the movement "attack" range and the 1 battle per turn is still too short.

Looking at this map and comparing it with the playing Map the movement range you can use to attack other ships or to do strategic combat needs a overthinking.

What do you guys think about a strategic attack also on "8" ? Removing the 6 or keeping it only for Subs?
(Didn't compare the Sub vs battleship\cruiser.. surface ranges ...) Maybe you?

Having a "second movement phase" for tactical moving ships to lay a trap for home moving ships. (Next rule ->)

And another rule where surface ships that move back to port(Actually in the Non-Combat Phase) can be forced for a battle again if the move through sea zones where enemy tactical ships are still present.. So if the ship that moves back home is damaged , then it must start in the reserve row any can only fire back if it isn't hit.. if it is not damaged it can fight 1 round of combat normally before moving home. Several battles can occur on the way home.

It would need to have strategic moved ships first back to port (initiave winner first) . before tactical moving ships move back to port.

What do you think ?
Edit: my graphic counts 7 spaces but it should be at least 8 because the Bismarck started in Gotenhafen
